2.2.6 Correspondence will not be treated as an absolute magnitude

Expressions such as:

“much correspondence”;

“little correspondence”;

“large difference”;

“small difference”;

will not be used as though they had an absolute meaning.

All correspondence must be associated with a criterion or purpose.

Formally:

C(X,Y | Q)

Where:

C = correspondence

X and Y = elements being compared

Q = criterion or purpose of the comparison

Thus, two representations may have sufficient correspondence according to Q₁ and insufficient correspondence according to Q₂.

Correspondence does not mean identity.
